Mon, 15 October 2007 ![]() Rosie Molinary is beautiful. I don't say this from a physical aspect, although her photos are very attractive. I say this with respect and admiration for her inspiring book and for sharing her passion with Girlfriendology. In her book, Hijas Americanas: Beauty, Body Image and Growing Up Latina, Rosie offers a provocative account of the struggles and triumps of Latin-American women (and all women) who find the perception of 'beauty' a challenging subject and imperceivable goal. The outside world does an job on women and our perception of beauty and how we fit into that stereotype. As Rosie shares, "We are on the precipice of a beauty revolution, on the cusp of possibility. So here's the question. Can you be a part of revising the standard of beauty in America? This isn't just a Latina or women's issue. This issue affects all of us as our sense of confidence and esteem dictates whether or not we reach our full potential. Because if we reach it, we become better doctors and more gracious service provides. We make art that inspires and are better partners. We parent better and donate our time and skills to our community. Since we do not operate in a vacuum, if we are better, we make the world better. Listen to Rosie talk with Girlfriendology. Then call a friend. Mentor each other. Build into other women. Stop the negative beliefs and comments. Compliment each other. Celebrate our successes with each other. Read Rosie's Book - Hijas Americanas: Beauty, Body Image and Growing Up Latina. Inspire, appreciate and celebrate girlfriends!
